A few years ago Caledonian author Kevin MacNeil was writer-in-residence at the local uni, and it's been a while since we heard from him. But now he's back with his new novel A Method Actor's Guide to Jekyll and Hyde, and we have two signed copies to raffle off. Just e-mail us the answer to this question: What is the Gaelic name of Mr MacNeil's island of origin?
A very scientificly minded blindfolded intern has pulled a name from the hat and the winner is..... Emelie G.!! Congratulations Emelie! (The intern's name is Ruddy. He's a very good intern.) (and the correct answer was Katherine Drachenberg)

New competition! Win a signed copy of famed tattoo artist Kat von D's new book The Tattoo Chronicles. Ms von D is visiting Sweden at the moment to launch her new books. We don't actually have anything planned for her in our shops, but we do have a signed copy of the beautiful new book to raffle off. Just send us an e-mail at info@bookshop.se stating what Kat von D's 'real' name is and YOU could be the winner! Competition ends Sunday December 5. Winners announced forthwith.
Tomorrow Saturday November 20 we are starting up our Storytelling for Children sessions in the Uppsala shop again. We're really looking forward to this. It's for 3-6 year olds primarily and you don't need to sign up for it.
The winner of our fiercly competitive Simon Kernick competition is Mr P. Hurst! Actually he's the only one who got the question right. The answer of course is Tom Hickey. But you all knew that, really, right? (And the question was "What is the name of the lecturer in humanities at Brighton Polytechnic who was a major inspiration to Mr Kernick?")
So congratulations Phil, the book is in the post. Happy reading.

Modern Fiction Book of the Month – June 2023
A sweeping, unpredictable novel about power, wealth and truth, set against the backdrop of turbulent 1920s New York. A Wall Street tycoon takes a young woman as his wife. Together they rise to the top in an age of excess and speculation. But now a novelist is threatening to reveal the secrets behind their marriage, and this wealthy man’s story – of greed, love and betrayal – is about to slip from his grasp. Composed of four competing versions of this deliciously deceptive tale, Trust brings us on a quest for truth while confronting the lies that often live buried in the human heart. // »Join the reading group // Subscribe to the book-of-the-month!
”I was dreading the Cunningham family reunion even before the first murder. Before the storm stranded us at the mountain resort. The thing is, us Cunninghams don't really get along. We’ve only got one thing in common: we’ve all killed someone. When they find the first body in the snow, it’s clear that only a Cunningham could have committed the crime – and it’s up to me to prove it. There are plenty of killers in my family. But only one murderer…” // »Join the Crime reading group // Subscribe to the book-of-the-month!
