The weather looks great so we’re making a second attempt at our Summer Sidewalk Super Sale in Uppsala. Starts on Friday 8th July at 13:00, and on Saturday 9th July at 12:00. 

We’re chucking out loads and loads of really good titles we need to get rid of (shop’s a little TOO charmingly cluttered of late) – and (and I’m going to shout now) THE PRICES ARE AMAZING!

Any 1 book for 20 kronor. (Dirt cheap, I know but wait...)
Any 4 books for 50 kronor. (Wow! That's cheap, but hold on... )
Any 10 books for 120 kronor. (Say what????)

Yes – sale is on Friday afternoon and Saturday only, and while stocks last and we still have strength.

Midsummer is here and the bookshops will be closed for a few days for midsummer celebrations – so stock up on your midsummer’s reading today. (Reading is fortunately an every-kind-of-weather activity…).

The Uppsala shop will be closed Friday and Saturday, and the Stockholm shop Friday–Sunday.

Oh what a party! Celebrate WORLD BOOK DAY at the Uppsala bookshop on Saturday 23rd April!

STORYTELLING at 11:00 Stories about marvellous moggies and their feline foibles and at eleven o’clock.

All Day DRESS-UP Everyone dressed up as a character from a book gets a gift from us! This goes for children as well as adults, so if you (or your child) want to come dressed as Paddington, Sherlock Holmes, ­Hermione Granger, or anyone else, we promise you it will be worth your while.

FREE BOOK for 7-year-olds.  Gifts for all 7-year-olds! Just say you love reading and you’ll get a free book! (Also at the Stockholm bookshop.)

Come and listen to the knowledgeable Richard Glover as he gives a talk on Shakespeare, his life and times, and throw some light on some of the myths and mysteries surrounding the Bard. Afterwards we’ll indulge in tea and renaissance style cake!

The game is afoot! Join Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson to follow the clues around Uppsala and solve their latest mystery.

Dress up in your best Victorian garb, grab your deerstalker and magnifying glass and get going! When we’re all tired and cold from a walk in the thick fog, tea and cake will be served in the shop, along with a talk on the subject of ”May I marry Sherlock ­Holmes” by the expert on all things sherlockian: Morgan Malm

Prizes for best costume (Victorian & in-character!) and best solved puzzles.

Adventure Trail begins at 3 o’clock, tea and talk at 17.30. 
Trail starts and ends at the bookshop on Svartbäcksgatan 19.
